ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚೆಸ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ 11 ವರ್ಷದೊಳಗಿನ ಮುಕ್ತ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾಲಕಿಯರ ಚೆಸ್ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್ ಶಿಪ್ –2026ಕ್ಕೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಉರ್ವ ಒಳಾಂಗಣ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಭವ್ಯ ಚಾಲನೆ ದೊರೆಯಿತು. ದೇಶದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಆಗಮಿಸಿರುವ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಚೆಸ್ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದ ಈ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿತು.
ಈ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್ ಶಿಪ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದ 28 ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೇಂದ್ರಾಡಳಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಂದ ಒಟ್ಟು 644 ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಾಳುಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ 230 ಬಾಲಕಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ 414 ಮುಕ್ತ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಆಟಗಾರರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಚೆಸ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಎರಡನೇ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಚೆಸ್ ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಳೆದ ಎಂಟು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ, ರಾಜ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಚೆಸ್ ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿರುವ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚೆಸ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್, ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಟೂರ್ನಿಗೆ ಆತಿಥ್ಯ ವಹಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಕೀರ್ತಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಗರಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿದೆ.
ಈ ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿಗೆ ನವ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಬಂದರು ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರ (NMPA), ಎಂಆರ್ಪಿಎಲ್ (MRPL) ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಕರಾಗಿ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿವೆ.
ಬಾಲಕಿಯರ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಆಟಗಾರ್ತಿಯರು : ಬಾಲಕಿಯರ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇರಳದ WCM ದಿವಿ ಬಿಜೇಶ್, ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಯಕ್ಷಿಣಿ ಪಿ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ WCM ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ ಗುಮುಡವಿಲ್ಲಿ, ರಾಜಸ್ಥಾನದ WCM ಕಿಯನ್ನಾ ಪರಿಹಾರ್, ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ AFM ಪ್ರಿಶಾ ಘೋಲಾಪ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಭರವಸೆಯ ಆಟಗಾರ್ತಿಯರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಾಗಿ ಸೆಣಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮುಕ್ತ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲೂ ತೀವ್ರ ಪೈಪೋಟಿ : ಮುಕ್ತ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ FM ಆದ್ವಿಕ್ ಅಮಿತ್ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ FM ಮಣಿಸರ್ಬಾರ್ತೋ, ತೆಲಂಗಾಣದ ನಿಧಿಶ್ ಶ್ಯಾಮಲ್, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಓಯಿಶಿಕ್ ಮೊಂಡಾಲ್, ಒಡಿಶಾದ CM ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ್ ಸ್ವಯಿನ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಯುವ ಚೆಸ್ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳು ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿದಿವೆ.
ಗಣ್ಯರ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆ : ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಸದ ಬೃಜೇಶ್ ಚೌಟ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಕಮಿಷನರ್ ಸುಧೀರ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಶಾಸಕ ವೇದವ್ಯಾಸ ಕಾಮತ್, ಎಂಆರ್ಪಿಎಲ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸಂದೇಶ್, ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಚೆಸ್ ಫೆಡರೇಶನ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಭಾವಿಶ್ ಪಟೇಲ್, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚೆಸ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಮಧುಕರ್, ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ ತೇಜಕುಮಾರ್, ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಅಜಯ್ ಪ್ರಭು, ನವ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಬಂದರು ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರದೀಪ್, ಅಪರ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ರಾಜು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

The National Under-11 Open & Girls Chess Championship 2026, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Chess Association, commenced at the Urwa Indoor Stadium in Mangaluru on Sunday, bringing together India’s finest young chess talents.
The championship has attracted 644 participants from 28 States and Union Territories, including 414 players in the Open category and 230 in the Girls category.
This is the second national-level chess championship ever hosted in Dakshina Kannada district. Having successfully organised district, state and national chess events over the past eight years, the Dakshina Kannada Chess Association has once again earned the honour of hosting a prestigious national tournament. The event is supported by sponsors including the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) and MRPL, along with several other organisations.
Strong Field in Girls’ Section : The Girls’ category features leading young talents such as WCM Divi Bijesh (Kerala), Yakshini P. (Tamil Nadu), WCM Nakshatra Gumudavelli (Karnataka), WCM Kianna Parihar (Rajasthan) and AFM Prisha Gholap (Maharashtra).
Intense Competition in Open Category : The Open section includes top-rated youngsters such as FM Advik Amit Agrawal (Maharashtra), FM Manish Sarbarto (West Bengal), Nidhish Shyamal (Telangana), Oyishik Mondal (West Bengal) and CM Satwik Swain (Odisha).
The championship was inaugurated in the presence of MP Brijesh Chowta, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, officials from MRPL and NMPA, AICF President Bhavesh Patel, KSCA President Madhukar, Grandmaster Tej Kumar, entrepreneur Ajay Prabhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Raju, and several other dignitaries.
The organising committee is led by Honorary President Sunil Achar, President Dr. Amarashree Amarnath Shetty, Vice President Ramesh Kote, Vice President Dr. Vani S. Panicker, Treasurer Kratin Kumar, and other office-bearers of the Dakshina Kannada Chess Association.
